Connecting laboratory equipment to data systems.

Driver Development

Custom Drivers for Agilent's OpenLAB Suite or similar RC.Net based Chromatography Data Systems.

The Process

Initial Consultation

During the initial consultation we will discuss the capabilities and limitations of the driver and chromatography system, any complexities in user or machine interface, desired platforms to support, desired licensing, copyright considerations, support levels. We will also examine the business value and time requirements of the project. This discussion will for the foundation of our scope of work.

Scope of Work

Drawing from our initial meeting and examination of provided device API documentation, user requirements, and business requirements we will generate a scope of work containing descriptions of the primary user interface elements (with wireframes if necessary), installation package, driver manual, milestones, time line, and other deliverables as discussed along with an official quotation.

Purchase

Issuing a purchase order against quoted terms and submitting the down payment will begin work. Prices can vary dramatically based on final use, time line, and interface complexity, but simple private use drivers will generally start around $10k. Commercial drivers intended for resale favor an initial investment with profit sharing model to accommodate ongoing licensing, support, and maintenance.

Work Begins

Milestones are accomplished

Work will progress according to the Scope of Work unless otherwise agreed in writing. The first development release generally takes about a month. Subsequent development releases are updated approximately every two weeks for testing by your QC team. Development will progress through Alpha - functional feature incomplete, Beta - feature complete with few major bugs, Release Candidate - with limited minor bugs, Final - with few / no bugs. With the total project length dependent on complexity of requirements, feedback, and workload. Once a Release Candidate is chosen as final it will take a couple weeks to generate the final deliverable package.

Final Asset Delivery

The time has come for final asset delivery. As agreed in the Scope of Work, deliverables can include the final production driver, installer package, code snapshot, user manual (PDF or HTML), screen shots of the main UI views, license generator script or access to our vendor licensing service.

Support

Customer satisfaction is our primary goal. We will work with you to find a support balance that will fit your project or grow with your business.
